How To Mute and Unmute Words On Bluesky
Let's talk about how to mute and unmute words on Bluesky. It's very simple. Follow these steps to filter off those unwanted words, hashtags and phrases so that they don't appear on your Bluesky feed any longer.
#Step 1: Go to https://bsky.app/
Login to your bluesky account via the website version (https://bsky.app/). Please don't use the app, because the ability to mute and unmute words on Bluesky is not yet available on the app.
Step 2: Go to Moderation
Check the upper left corner of your profile, you will see a menu bar, it's a three horizontal line button as you can see in the screenshot above, click on it. You will see "Moderation", click on it. Check the screenshot below.
#Step 3: Go to Muted Words & Tags
Click on the Muted words & tags option and start typing any words, hashtags or text you want to mute on bluesky into the space. Then click on "Add" to save it. Clicking on the Add button will automatically save the words, hashtags or text in your muted words list. Now the words will appear in your muted words list as you can see in the screenshot below.
Rules for Muting Words on Bluesky
Here are some common rules for using the Bluesky mute words feature:
- You can add as many words as you want in your muted words list
- You can mute a single word, hashtag or phrase
- Avoid Muting common words that appear in many posts
- Selecting "mute in text and tags" will mute any posts that the word is present in both text and hashtags.
- Selecting "mute in tags only" will only mute words on hashtags.
How to Unmute words on Bluesky
Un-muting words on Bluesky is very simple. All you need to do is follow these steps:
- Go to https://bsky.app/
- Go to Moderation
- Go to Muted word & tags
- Go to your Muted words list
- Click on the cancel button, it looks like an "X" button as you can see in the screenshots below. Click on "Remove" to unmute the words from the Muted word list.
